Re: Florence

Lori,

We stayed in the Holiday inn, it worked out great for our family. It wasn't in the heart of everything but the bus that stopped right by the hotel took us everywhere we needed to get to without incurring the expense of parking and high hotel rates. The people at the front desk were very helpful, sold bus tickets there, grocery store just down the street. Here is the link to it

Re: Florence

We stayed at Antica Torre Di Via Tornabuoni, near the Ponte Vecchio with a view of the Duomo dome, included a good breakfast, excellent service and very central location.  Pricey but worth it.  we booked on Booking.com.  Rick Steves recommends www.ilbargellino.com for a less expensive yet good place to stay.

We have found Hotel Consigli to fit our needs.  It overlooks the river, beside the American Embassy great cost, parking and location.
