Hello everyone

if someone can help me to know how I, as a teacher in elementary school specialised for special needs children can be involve in here. Being at home doing nothing is painful.

Are you teaching at the school?  Why not?  I am an aide for Special Needs at the elementary school...There is also a special needs group run by one of the counselors at Fleet and Family.  Let me know what's happening with you, and I can try to help you.

I am Silvana from Albania. I am e new commer here in Naples because my husband works in MC HQ Nisida. I want to be engaged either in the school or in the group but I don't know how. Just to know that I have 15 years experiences working with special needs children as a teacher. Can you help me on that. I don't know if I have to apply or to meet someone for that reason.

On Twesday I will be at elementary school in NSA  in Gricignano because I have e meeting for my children which will attend this school. If it is possible I would like to see you either there or somewhere else.

We live in Lago Patria.

There are special ed aide positions open at the High School. 

Are you able to apply for a job at the school?  If so, you can go to the DODEA website and apply for Naples elementary or High School.  I know they are in need of Aides at the Elementary school.  You are best to talk to Tiziana at the elementary school and she can help you with the application process.  If you don't want a job, the school can always use volunteers in all the classes.  Hope this helps!

 I know that you need to make him an appointment at Peds. and they will point you in the right direction.  I know we have a sure start (4 yr. olds) and a special needs Pre-K, which I believe they can start at age 3.  Pediatrics has to see him initially then go from there.  Good luck, if you have any other questions, I will try to help you!

Mary is right to point you towards pediatrics, but before school age, the group you would work with here is called EDIS (I think it's Early Developmental Intervention Services) and they work with and evaluate any kids that have or potential have special needs from birth to age 3 or 4.  EDIS covers every area of special needs.

EDIS stops services at 3.

It depends on the services though.  My son is 6 and a half and some of his services are still through EDIS.  It's a good place to ask while school is out since the school-age assistance doesn't happen during the summer months when school isout.
